Dorothea Lange stated that "The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera." The first thing you will need as you begin your journey into the world of digital photography is of course, a digital single-lens
reflex (DSLR) or a single-lens reflex (SLR) camera. Make sure you get a camera in which the lenses
are interchangeable. Having multiple lenses it lets you be more creative.
Lens range from 55mm to 200mm for most type of photographs. A good lens for
landscape would be 28mm to 35mm. Lower Mainland photographer, Sarah Kate said she uses the Canon 75-300mm Zoom Len. " I like it becuse that way I don't need to be close all the time. It makes people feel uncomfortable when you shove a camera in their face."A sturdy tripod is also a great piece of equipment to have. Tripods can be used for either still or fast moving photography to prevent the camera from movement.
UV filter is something that you don’t have to have, but it
can protect your expensive lens. If any does hit your front lens like a rock or
a small branch the lens could possibly shatter.
Most
cameras come with built in flash. So all you have to do is press a button if
you want flash. An additional flash can allow you to take pictures farther away
and still get great detail in the picture. "I sometimes use reflectors in my work, but most I like to use natural lighting", said Sarah Kate. The last thing you will need is a camera bag. . Most camera bags can hold your camera, lenses, flash, and memory card. That way you can transport your equipment with ease without breaking or getting anything wet.
